Robin BellRobin Bell studies ice sheet stability and the interaction between ice and the underlying geology.  She is a senior research scientist at Columbia University's Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory.  She uses geophysics to probe through the thick ice sheets to image the hidden mountain ranges, volcanoes and lakes. She has worked with teams that have discovered an active volcano in West Antarctica and large subglacial lakes in East Antarctica. She is very excited about scientists from six nations working together to solve really difficult problems in East Antarctica.   Robin loves open spaces with endless expanses of both water and ice.
