I am just about on my way out of here (hopefully!). But I'm sure my replacement would love to correspond with your science class. She has pretty much taken over my tasks at ARO and she is settling in nicely. She has her own blog going at http://wx-geek.blogspot.com/ You can shoot her an email as well at Christine.Schultz.Guest [at] usap [dot] gov Hi David,

I have resently returned to New York after 13 months at McMurdo Station as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Raytheon Polar Services. My son's 12th Grade Science Class (Physics & Earth Science) would like to make contact with someone on the Ice involved in Science. (you if that is possible. I understand the timing involved. Just first, let me know if your still on the Ice at Pole and second, would you be willing to communicate with the class? Thank you for all you do, Sincerely, David Akin Hello Nick,

Anything in general---do errands for you while you are "out of town" (I suppose thats what you are?) or anything that could be of assistance. God bless you all. I'll say a prayer for your safety and that the well being of your loved ones who will be overseen by God's angels. joej Anything I can do as an untrained retiree in Georgia for you? I am pretty sure I could handle a whole year there because I have done several year long tours without going home. One was Korea and the other was Iraq. I have been offered an opportunity to go through the processing to possibly land a job at McMurdo. My question is this......do you know of anyone from Louisiana that is or has worked there? I'm trying to find out if I'm completely bonkers for even considering this and what a fellow swamper would have to say. Thank you. Robin Hi Nick. Comment on Firefighter Howie by John Paul Goede http://icestories.exploratorium.edu/dispatches/firefighter-howie/comment-page-1/#comment-4643 John Paul Goede Tue, 12 Oct 2010 15:33:28 +0000 http://icestories.exploratorium.edu/dispatches/?p=848#comment-4643 Greetings & Salutations, My name is John Paul Goede. I am a retired United States Air Force Firefighter. I participate in a bi-weekly radio show that has a growing listening audience from many nations and many continents. The radio program is a spin-off of the worlds #1 largest conspiracy related website, but mixes a diverse style of music with a humorous and entertaining panel of laymen as well as professional specialists from various fields of study. I am not advertising the radio show, and outside of being a listener and fan of the show do not represent them or their affiliations. I am only efforting to get someone from Antarctica to provide a hit on their websites' global indicator as a prank for a member of their panel, a retired marine, police detective, and businessman from South Carolina named Garth (aka Semperfortis). He is also a highly respected forum moderator. The website for this radio show is here: http://www.illustrial.net/site/ I know this may sound unorthodox, and am sure you have obligations and responsibilities that keep you busy. I am only wanting a second of your time on at least one Saturday during broadcasting, and am not pandering on their behalf for new listeners. I sincerely feel this would boost some moral for the people who are efforting to make a social difference through this show. Thank you for what you do, and the difference your research and logistical support makes in the world. Please bundle up and stay warm, and take care of eachother down there. Thank you for your time, Sergeant John P. Goede, USAF Firedog (retired) Greetings & Salutations,
